How we interact with larger displays like TVs has undergone a significant transformation in the last decade, and mobile devices have played a pivotal role in driving these changes. Albeit mobile devices keep evolving along with behavioral changes and technology outbursts, the larger display of the dwelling seems reluctant to change. This observation is the starting point of provocative design research, which aims to identify and visualize how larger displays could evolve according to this convergence of technologies. TV viewing is a more interactive, social, and personalized experience. However, behaviors seem diverse and segmented among different demographics. The research focuses on three concepts, each profoundly connected to personas and deeply rooted in the type of space they live in.
From the young professional apartment to the suburban family home, we explored product opportunities intimately bound to and inspired by architectural specificities.
RAIL
A Magnetic charging mounting rail inspired by the Shaker.
Mobile devices introduced a comprehensive range of display sizes. Working from home brought other display types to the center of the dwelling, leading anyone to shift from one to another according to the time of the day. This set of products focuses on the transition point.
It does this by providing a comprehensive ecosystem. The apartment of a digital nomad is undoubtedly where technology is quickly adopted and manipulated with agility. Flexibility, modularity, and connectivity are essential.
Materialized as an induction charging mounting rail, the artifact sits between the Shaker wall mounting device and a knife magnetic strip.
Like the cook working with a knife and then another, anyone can quickly shift from a mobile phone to a tablet to finally reassemble in front of the larger display.

ROLL
Albeit mobility defines most of our display-centered devices, larger displays remain relatively immovable.
On the one hand, the proliferation of smaller-sized displays prevents some users from buying multiple TVs for their homes. On the other hand, the diversification of content displayed on larger screens could lead to the desire to watch it in different rooms.
A large wheel on the facade conveys mobility, allowing the display to be dragged easily to the living room to watch a game, the bedroom to watch a movie, and any other suitable spot in the house for any type of content.
The ability to roll around also allows it to be hidden away when friends come over for dinner.

SQUARE
The large display turns into a mirror when in power-saving mode.
Auto-adjusted content based
on eye height and unobtrusive subtitles enabled.
Focusing on multi-sources broadcasting the square format opens up a new set of interfaces and interactions for all. The square ratio's added value is its ease of blending in the environment, especially when combined with a switchable mirror finish.
From live yoga lessons on Instagram to scale-one videoconferencing, user scenarios range from defining new opportunities to well-known use cases, such as gathering around the larger display to enjoy family time.•Wealthy suburban family
